Emotions are a natural part of life. Everything we do and everything we learn is influenced, in some way, by the way we feel. While emotions are a normal part of being human, children need guidance to understand and manage them.
How do children learn to recognize feelings like sadness, joy, fear, or anger? How do they learn what appropriate behavior looks like when emotions become overwhelming? What can parents do when a child has an angry outburst or withdraws in fear?
Parents spend a great deal of time teaching children important things, such as reading, or tying shoes. Taking time to help children learn to understand their feeling is important too. Emotion Coaching is a parenting approach that helps children recognize, understand, and regulate their feelings. Join us as we explore the five steps of Emotion Coaching and discover practical strategies to help your child understand their emotions, express their feelings in healthy ways, and build lifelong emotional resilience.
* Please note: An unparented program for ages 3–6 years is offered at the same time, allowing children to enjoy their own age-appropriate experience while caregivers attend this program. *
